I have had some requests lately to make my mouthpieces a bit flatter. For some reason since I started making my mouthpieces out of Ebonite I got away from a little technique that I use to use. I once again started using that technique and collectors have noticed a big improvement so I will continue to do this. It makes for a flatter more comfortable mouthpiece. I think you will notice a big difference. Here is neat pipe if I do say so myself! It started out as a Twain but with a FULL smooth top, and a bit more. I would say it is 75% smooth, the front is smooth and it tapers down the front and to the bottom of the shank. Just so there is no confusion, this piece IS NOT graded a smooth, it is graded a special because of the blast/rustication. I really love this pipe and it is all I can muster not to smoke this pipe, and I still may! The photos do this piece no justice. The top is what I would say dished in and very rounded. While this is not a new technique in the industry, it is new to me and I am very excited with the possibilities for the future. Quite a bit of work but the results are pretty cool.
