Here is a neat piece I really like and I do not remember making anything quite like this in the past. Quite a large pipe and a comfortable handful! I dished in the sides which takes a bit of time I am pleased with the look. I went with a half saddle which adds to the comfort of a mouthpiece of this diameter, it also has a slight bend. The top came out beautiful and this piece came out with a incredible blast, this 100 year old wood seems to blast very well. I calculated the age of the briar by the length of time I have had these blocks, the time the previous owner had the wood, which was over thirty years and the time it took to grow to the size of these blocks, I would not be afraid to say this wood started growth a hundred years ago. These blocks are huge and I can sometimes get two large pipes out of a block, probably three gp. 4 sized pieces. It takes a long time in the ground to get to this size!. Hand cut Blue Ebonite mouthpiece w/Delrin tennon, hand made solid sterling silver “Wide Rope” fitment. Thank you very much for looking and y our consideration of my work.
