OK, what can I say, I guess I am really stepping out of the box lately. I was looking at Premal’s site, Smokers Haven the other day and I can across a truly unique piece that I just had to have. Talking with Premal he said it is the only GBD he has seen of this shape but he did see other brands of the same shape. He said he saw the shape listed as a Hawkbill, Since this GBD dates to around the 1950’s I guess GBD has dibs on the name Hawkbill. I know it is nothing like the Hawkbill as we know of it today. So to make a long story shorter, I purchased the pipe and did my rendition of it. The GBD is in the view with my version. I did change the shank but I think it came out wonderful. I should really keep this pipe as it is the first one produced and is so marked on the nomenclature panel with #1 and also documented on teh inspection card. I discovered a superior technique than I have been recently doing for thinning my mouthpieces and I am very happy with the thinness and comfort. I will continue to do this to my mouthpieces.
